Investigations
For investigations of electrical installations, such as reliability and failure analysis or installation assessment, a broad knowledge and experience is needed.
When executing investigations ERCD is not only heading for the solution as such. We are aiming too for a report that is clear and understandable for the client and can serve as a support in order to raise the level of understanding within the client’s own organisation.

Reliability and failure analysis
ERCD is the provider of impartial consultancy for engineering reliability and failure investigation, specialised in the area of electrical plant and equipment failure analysis.
ERCD failure analysis is based on 3 backgrounds:
ERCD failure analysis is based on 3 backgrounds:
- The object itself
- The application
- Human behaviour / working procedures
After a failure in your electrical installation it’s not only important to gain knowledge about the root causes but also to get an advice for preventive actions.
Installation Assessment
ERCD can offer a thorough analysis of, and solution for, disturbances in electrical installations which impair the level of continuity.
Examples are:
Examples are:
- nuisance tripping of protective devices
- EMC related disturbances
- temperature hot-spots
- malfunctioning of components
- discrimination of protective devices
- short circuit levels
- selection of protective devices
- overvoltages and overvoltage protection
Objective of ERCD is to reach solutions which increase the level of continuity of your processes in combination with a safe and reliable level of protection.
Power Quality
Quality of the voltage, referred as Power Quality, is becoming an item of growing importance in relation to an undisturbed operation of appliances.
By means of a power quality analysis insight can be gained about the level of voltage dips, flicker and harmonic distortion. Comparisons can be drawn towards the applicable standards like the EN 50160 (grid) and the EN-IEC 61000-series (installations of end-users).
Important in electrical installations is the proper working of individual loads and the interactions between different loads. Especially the interactions of loads can lead to improper functioning resulting in a reduction of the level of continuity of your process.
